Well, it's a very short graphic novel, and it's in the classic style of Gaiman (the term so often used seems so fitting: "Lyric").The story is that of a story and the telling of stories itself. I think the problem for me is one of my looking (hoping) for something that the book never wants or intends to give me, while at the same time I just wasn't in the market for what it was selling. It's like a conversation with a stranger who is convinced you're equally fascinated by a subject matter, and speaks to you quite earnestly, while you try desperately how to extricate yourself. It's interesting, and the art is dark, brooding, and very vivid, but in the end, the story (meta-story?)just never got around to sweeping me up in it.
